| I have an asp page that sends email to various people that had been working
fine for a long time now and suddenly everything is stuck in the que. I only
send to internal email addresses although I have taken the trouble to make
sure that relay is possible even though not necessary due to my problems. I
have also tried settting the smarthost ip address to that of the internal
mail server though again, this should not be necessary. If I restart the
server all the mail does get delivered.......once.
Can someone help me out?

Message delivery by the remote domain <mydomain.com> failed for the
following reason. The connection was dropped by the remote host.
As I said, if I reboot the machine it works once, but it takes a reboot.
Restarting IIS or SMTP service doesn't work by itself.

| FYI Dave S indicated uninstalling Norton AV fixed the problem.
I had a similar problem which was fixed by exluding certain directories
from on access anti virus scanning.
