SMTP error, semaphore timeout period
|
|

| Hi,
I'm getting this error from my Web server running Win2003.
Message delivery to the host 'XXX.XXX.XX.XXX' failed while delivering to the
remote domain 'aol.com' for the following reason: The semaphore timeout
period has expired.
The SMTP queue is jammed with outgoing mails.
The SMTP Virtual server is bound to an IP on a NIC that's running NLB
(Network Load Balancing) with another server. Will this be a problem?
TIA
Tom

| Thanks Jeff.
I had this "semaphore timeout" problems after the failure of a NIC that goes
to the internet. The server was rebooted to re-initialized the NIC.
I read some KBs in MS support saying that the NIC might be a problem.
Anyone has knowledge or problems resembling my scenario?
TIA
Tom

| I also used nslookup (KB 263237) to test DNS and the TCP query to
"microsoft.com" was successful.
