| We have a server (Windows 2003) set up with Microsoft SMTPSVC. We have been
experiencing a large quantity of emails being sent to the “Badmail” folder
and not being sent out. On some of the .bad messages which are being sent to
external domains, I see the following:
Unable to deliver message to the following recipients, due to being unable
to connect successfully to the destination mail server.
On failed emails being sent to our domain I see the following:
Action: failed
Status: 5.5.0
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable or
not local
I have verified that all of the email addresses are valid and can be sent to
from a mail client on a local box. As well as receiving similar
notifications from the same server but just at different times.
Our main email is hosted off of a Plesk VPS solution if this matters at all.
The Default SMTP Virtual Server has the server name set up as Local
(Default) and our domain set up as Remote.
Can anyone throw me any suggestion on how I can get the SMTp server working
properly.
I do not have much of any experience within this realm and so not really
sure of what other info I could provide to make this question easier.
Thanks,
Beac
