Hi group,

Could anyone recommend a nntp reference book or a web page that would
contain a sample
file that would explain the use of the nntp/pickup folder?

When I select the moderated switch on my nntp server articles posted by
telnet will post but articles moved into the nntp/pickup folder will not. I
have tried everything I could think of.

Some of the questions I have are:
1. what file extension should I use. - .eml versus .nws or should I use .txt
2. Where does the "Approved: xxxx" statement have to be placed in the
header?
3. Does it matter if I am using notepad to create the posts - because of the
necessary cr/lf "." ending?
4. How does the header indicates that the post is replying to a specific
group or to a new post?
5. How important are the time stamps?
6. How can I get a verbose log printout of why the article failed posting?

Most of the Google searches on this subject yield results about how to forge
a moderator approval in a moderated newsgroup. I am not trying to do that. I
am trying to get the information to set up a moderated newsgroup.

I also have a strange feeling that something else is happening, here,
because
after rebuilding the nntp server it seems to work for two or three posts and
then stop.- I could be imagining this, I tried so many things I loose
track of what I did.

Thanks for the info.
