Hi,

After I had setup a mail server with a dynamic IP on my computer installed
Windows Server 2003 R2, Enterprise Edition, I could send and receive email
with this email account, 'ssltony@tony.local' through it only in Intranet.
However, I tried to send email with this email account,
'ssltony@myname.dyndns.org' (Dynamic DNS) but I could not receive it. For
your understanding and studying my problem, I listed more information about
my hardware and software configuration below:

-My server is connected to Internet through my router with DDNS support
-The IP address of Domain Name is updated by a company named Dynamic DNS
-The Domain name is myname.dyndns.org
-IP address of router: 192.168.1.1

-Only one network adapter is installed on my server
-Its properties are listed below:
-IP address : 192.168.1.2
-Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
-Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
-Preferred DNS Server: 127.0.0.1
-Alternate DNS Server: 192.168.1.1

-POP3 Service:
-Authentication Method: Active Directory Integrated
-Server Port: 110
-Logging Level: Minimun
-Root Mail Directory: C:\inetpub\mailroot\mailbox
-Checked this 'Require Secure Password Authentication (SPA) for all client
connections' option
-Checked this 'Always create an assoicated user for new mailboxes' option
-Domain: tony.local
-Mailbox Name: ssltony

-Default SMTP Virtual Sever in my computer, PC1WinSvr2K3R:
-Properities"

relay, regradless of this list above' option -MessagesDefault)

DNS Server:
-Adding a Host (A) record:
-mail,Host(A),192.168,1,2
-Adding a Mail Exchanger(MX) record:
-(same as parent folder),Mail Exchanger(MX),[10] mail.tony.local.

Ms Outlook Express:
-Generail:
-Mail Account: mail.tony.local
-User Information:
-E-mail address: ssltony@tony.local
-Checked this 'include this account when receving mail or synchronizing'

If you have any suggestion, please give me response.

What kind of firewall/router are you using? I'm using a LinkSys - you have
to enable port forwarding for ports 25 and 110 to IP address 192.168.1.2 -
also, that IP address must be a static, not dynamic, IP on the WS 2003
machine.

Hi Ron Hinds,

I found the cause of the problem before receving your response. Now, I can
receive email with the email account,ssltony@myname.dyndns.org but can't
send email because other mail server can't accept my mail server with a
dynamic IP (DDNS). However, thank you for your response and suggestion.
