Why incomplete search results from website
|
|
|
| On our intranet, I have added one more folder in the index
server to search. The build-in query works great and
searches the files under this new folder.
However, from the website, the search results do not show
any of the files in the new folder. What can I do to fix
this problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

| Index Server only returns docs the authenticated user has permission to
see. I would start by looking at NTFS permissions on the new folder to make
sure they allow the same users as the others.
The built in query page ( MMC) is passing Administrator credentials so it
will see everything, if the web page is anonymous and the folder does not
grant this user ( The IIS Iusr account) read access, the pages in the
folder would not show up.

| Please help!
I have permitted Iusr account read permision on the new
directory. But still having the same problem. i.e. query
page (mmc) gives more results than the web query form.
What am I missing? I hope I am not the only one with this
problem.
Please help me with this.

| You're not the only one, this is quite common... 95% of the time it is a
permissions issue, 5% of the time it is something not set up right...
Try doing a full re-scan of the catalog, and then try to query again. Make
sure the permission for the IUSR account is not just on the folder, but
also the files inside it. Also, if you are searching through an ASP page,
you may have to also give NTFS permissions to the content to the IWAM
account.
Does this answer your question? Thank you for using Microsoft Newsgroups!
