| I don't know how it was working before, since it is not supposed to work
without some registry modifications. Please take note of the warning :
"NOTE: The following changes may cause products such as Microsoft SQL
Server, Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server, Microsoft Site Server, and
Microsoft Exchange 2000 to stop responding (hang) if you try to search for
documents."
CAUSE
=====
Because of a change in the way filters are loaded in Windows XP,
third-party single-threaded filters do not load. The Acrobat PDF iFilter is
an apartment model filter.
WORKAROUND
==========
WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious
problems that may
require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee
that you can solve
problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry
Editor at your own
risk.

Server, Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server, Microsoft Site Server, and
Microsoft Exchange 2000 to stop responding (hang) if you try to search for
documents.

click Modify.

key.

a. Right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
b. In the left pane in the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), expand
Services and Applications.
c. Right-click Indexing Service, click All Tasks, click Stop, and then
