Author Indexing service and FP2002 extensions?
Not Really Me

2007-01-09, 1:49 am

I am using an FP2002 extended site on win serv 2003. I "think" indexing is
turned on, but can't seem to find the right info to know for sure. I see
the catalogue name in the registry, but have no idea where the index is
actually stored.

After I attempt a search I get an error and find the following message in
the server log:
2007-01-04 17:02:02 192.168.20.1 POST /_vti_bin/shtml.dll/index.htm - 5080 -
71.216.221.2
Mozilla/5.0+(Windows;+U;+Windows+NT+5.1;+en-US;+rv:1.8.1.1)+Gecko/20061204+Firefox/2.0.0.1
200 0 0

The site is still temp published at http://71.216.221.5.

Is there a doc to read as a starting point on this?

Any ideas are appreciated.

Scott

It sounds like you don't have FP Search installed correctly or this web site
configured to use indexing services.

Not Really Me

Hilary,

I just tried editing the site directly and replaced the "web search"
component on one page. I still get the same results.

It is very likely that I don't have indexing services configured properly.
I really don't know where to start with that. For better or worse, I am my
own ISP. The web server is running Windows server 2003 web edition.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Scott

Hilary I looked at your indexserverfaq and lo and behold, I found out the
service wasn't running. The things you can learn with one good pointer.

I see all my web folders listed in the FPSE_search catalog. The MMC shows
FPSE_... size of 1 MB, 860 docs, 0 to index, 0 deferred, 16 word lists, 3
saved indexes, status = started.

I have closed and reopened, and refreshed the page on the IE client. Entered
a search and got the same error result.

When I query the catalog on the MMC for the same word it finds 55 matching
records.

FWIW, is the site name important? It will eventually be
www.validatedsoftware.com, but right now it is on an IIS web page named Test
or a different IP from the eventual target. Both IPs are on the same server
though.

What do I try now?
