Author TCP connection problem with third-party LDAP (Sun One)- TCP packet out of state

We are experiencing an unusual networking problem dealing with a third
party authentication source. This is WL portal 8.1 with Sun one
directory server.

Intermittently, we are getting 'TCP packet out of state' messages in
our checkpoint firewall log. When submitting login credentials, it
appears the web/app server (in a DMZ) is trying to use a closed
connection to send the request to the LDAP server (not in the DMZ).
Sometimes the web/app opens a new connection and everything works
fine.

Is this strictly an application issue or is there somewhere else we
can look?

TIA,

James
