Meta Tag Description not being read

Currently, even though I have meta tags set-up for description and keywords only the keywords are being cataloged and not the description - any thoughts how I can get description to work?

Even though I say in the custom schema to use html meta it never catalogs any of the data in the descption meta tag

To get the keywords to be read I followed this MS article which did the trick - description though needs some other trick:
