| I recently purchased something from a website and during the checkout process my credit card number was automatically filled into the credit card number field. The numbers were also completely visible instead of hidden by dots, astericks, etc. I know fr
om experience on other eCommerce websites that this is not best practice. After sending an email to the webmaster, I was informed it was a browser issue instead of an issue with the way the developers had programmed the page. I believe this to be incorr
ect, but need someone with more knowledge than me to help out. Here are my questions.
1) Where can I find information on how to appropriately code a checkout page so the autocomplete feature is not enabled for the credit card number and expiration date ONLY?
2) Where can I find information on how to code a page so the numbers entered into a field are not shown, but instead are replaced with astericks, dots, or whatever?
3) How can I clear my credit card number from the autocomplete cache so it cannot be read by anyone else trying to gain access to my computer?
I really appreciate all of your help!
