Author Object Expected error in Authoring Console

Hi,
I installed CMS 2002 sp1 and a Woodgroove-based site on Windows 2000 sp3 (it
is my staging server to test the upgrade to sp4 and CMS sp1a) and am getting
Javascript error "Object Expected" every time I click on any link in the Web
Authoring console - be it create new page, edit existing page, view page
properties, etc.

I checked all the items in this article:
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...6a/MCMS+2002+-+(complete)+FAQ.htm#21B7B163-820E-439C-9D36-24A94BB15B30

But am still having the problem. In fact the same site works fine in
production. I checked event log and do not see anything suspicious there
either.
My website has the following virtual directories:
NR(vd)
MCMS(app), including SIte Deployment and CMS(vd)
aspnet_client
thesite(app)
webctrl_client 1_0

Any suggestions, anybody?

Hi Ilona,

please check the IIS log for 404 and 401 errors.
Are there any entries? Which?

Cheers,
Stefan.

It sounds like its not finding the CMS virtual directory...

Do any other MCMS sites work on this machine? - maybe the IIS_CMS directory
is corrupted and you may need to reinstall?

Unfortunately, I could not get it to work and the requirements changed - now
I am reloading everything on Windows 2003 box. Sorry guys, but I can not see
if your suggestions worked

I had the same problem on different machines. On some, the 'edit' link worked out of the box, on others, it wouldn't. After trying to reinstall MCMS 2002 SP1A on XP 3 times (without effect), I found a solution: I created a new virtual directory under my application directory in IIS, with the following path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Content Management Server\Server\IIS_CMS

I reloaded the page, and edit worked. No more 'object expected'.

Hope this helps anyone.
