| Hi,
i'm thinking to implement an MCMS 2002 site. I have this requirement from
the client: use portlet technology for inserting new services.
I have no idea if mcms and asp.net could be considered "compliant" with
portlet technology.
Could you please explain me which is the possible solutions?
Thanks

| I know that the WSRP Web Part Toolkit includes a ready-to-install 'consumer'
component that displays WSRP portlet services provided by a variety of
vendors within Web Part pages hosted by Windows SharePoint Services and
SharePoint Portal Server 2003. This is a Web Part capable of consuming and
rendering output from Web services conforming to the OASIS standard for Web
Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP).
Is it possible to use this web-parts in a MCMS 2002 site instead of
sharepoint site?
Mcms templates ar aspx files, so i should be able to add web part in ASP.NET
pages or not?
Thanks.

| Hi Mem,
ASP.NET 1.0 and 1.1 do not support web parts.
Cheers,
Stefan.

| Stefan,
I have to project an INTERNET site: my idea was to develop an mcms 2002 site.
But i NEED to declare that the site can use potrlets. So, which are my
possibilities?
- Sharepoint? (but could i use mcms for content management and workflws? In
which way then?) . And which is the cost to realize an internet (not
intranet) site with sp?
- ASP.NET 2.0 and mcms to manage contents? Is it possible?
Than yo veri much for help.

| Hi,
CMS does not support this.
SharePoint might be an option but SharePoint has licensing problems for
internet scenarios. You should check back on a SharePoint related newsgroup.
ASP.NET 2.0 has not yet released. You should not build a production site on
a not-yet-released product.
Cheers,
Stefan.

| Ok,
i'm in trouble then.
So there is no way to use web parts having mcms 2002 for content management
functionalities...
No way to integrate sps (for internet i need extrnl connector license i
suppose...) with mcms (for example using sps for home page and other specific
pages needing web parts and mcms for other pages without web parts..)?
Sorry for my question, but i'm really newbie on this.
Thanks.

| Hi,
sure you could integrate it using the way outlined below:
SPS for the web part section and MCMS for the other.
But MCMS would not use the web parts.
Please follow up on an SPS related newsgroup on the SPS licensing.
Cheers,
Stefan.
