hi all,
I face a problem if I change the the page property of current page and then
submit, it will disappear from the live site and i heard that it is
expected, so, what should I do if I wanna do the following? I have page ABC
publish on 1/1/2004(already published), and I want the page ABC have some
content update to ABCD and publish on (1/1/2005), hopw could I acheive
that?? I dun want the page to be disappeared in any time, my target is
1/1/2004 it shows ABC and when the time reaches 1/1/2005, it shows ABCD and
page ABC won't exist anymore, what is the best purpose of that.

Jam~

Hi

The page only "disappears" after a page property change if it is waiting for
moderator approval. If there are no moderators assigned to a channel, it
shouldn't be removed. Unless, of course, it's start date has been set to the
future or if it has expired :-)

There isn't a neat solution to time an update of an existing posting. I'm
afraid that using the shipped product, you will have to create 2 postings.
The posting with content ABC will expire on 1/1/2005. And the posting with
content ABCD will have its start date set to 1/1/2005. Both postings should
share the same Name so that the URL remains the same.

Hi Mei Ying,

I assume that Jam is talking about the usage of the Start and ExpiryDate.

Jam, you could achieve this in two possible ways:

1) staging environment: you have a staging environment and export the
posting.
Then schedule a Site Deployment script to import the posting on your
production box at a given time. This will ensure that the content changes at
a given time

2) start/expiration date
Create a second posting with the new content but the same name in the same
channel.
Set the expiryDate of the original posting to the time when the new content
should go live and set the StartDate of the new posting to the same time.
This will ensure that the old posting will go offline and the new one will
go online the same moment.

Cheers,
Stefan.

Hi Choihead,

no way to avoid this beside regulary deleting the expired postings.
If you don't have a need to keep the expired postings enable the first step
in the background processing job on the SQL server. This will automatically
delete expired postings.

Cheers,
Stefan.

Hi stefan,

THanks for eplying, I just have a thought,
is it possible that I get the list of posting that the state is expired in
your stager or I write a new programme? I mean, can I get the list without
going into the MCMS Site??
