Hi all,

Just wondering if someone can explain the impact of using
local resources rather than the resource gallery.

When you use a local resource, where does it get saved?
When you delete a local resource, does it get deleted from
the result of the question above?

Help please, i cant seem to find any suitable information
on this topic.

TIA

Hi Adam,

both - local and share resourcs - get stored in the database as blobs.
So this is not a difference.

The major differences are
- permissions to local resources are identical to the posting permissions
- permissions to share resources can be configured on the resource gallery
- including the same image/attachment as local resource causes multiple
instances of the same item to get stored in the database
- including the same image/attachment as shared resource causes only one
instances of the same item to get stored in the database
- if the needs to replace an item comes up for local resources all postings
need to get modified and the new item needs to be attached.
- if the needs to replace an item comes up for shared resources only this
one resource gallery item needs to be updated an it will be reflected on all
postings the same moment

In general: if the item only is need in one single posting then often the
overhead to use a resource gallery is to much.
If the item needs to be used on different posting you should choose a shared
resource.

Cheers,
Stefan.
