Author MetaData in Templates

I would like to have placeholders in a template where
authors can enter the meta data and have it end up in the
<meta> tags for the posting where later searching can find
the values. Can someone explain how to get the data from
placeholders with meta data into the <meta> tags? Is it a
special type of placeholder? Do I need to write code to do
this based on some event? Any links detailing this process
and some sample code would be really helpful.

Thank you.

Hi Mary,

the recommended way is to use custom properties rather than placeholders to
store such content.
Then use a user control to render the property content in the metatags.
The CMS 2002 doc contain a sample on how to do this.
If you need a sample on how to enable property editing in edit mode see this
blog:

Cheers,
Stefan
