Error trying to intergrate CMS2002 with VS.NET 2003
|
|
|
| We're trying to setup a new CMS development site; but the
architecture is causing some issues.
The CMS Server is between firewalls in our DMZ, and the
database and developer machines are on the inside.
I'm trying to setup VS.NET to be able to access the
remote machine directly, but am getting the following
error.
"The 'New MCMS Server Project' operation failed because
the following preconditions were not met: Cannot MCMS-
enable a project that is on a remote computer."
My understanding was is that we would be able to use this
kind of a setup, am I wrong?

| Hi,
it is not possible to access a remote CMS machine using VS.NET. This is a
limiation of the developer tools.
You only can work against the local machine.
It is recommended to have VS.NET and CMS on every developer machine and
connect to a common database. To synchronize the VS.NET project between the
different machines it is recommended to use Visual Source Safe.
Cheers,
Stefan.
