| Hi all,
I have to implement search functionality using MCMS 2002 and SPS 2003.
I downloaded the connector:

I have some question about it:
1) which TCP ports are required to be opened to comunicate with SPS from the MCMS 2002 server when querying it for searches purpose?
Only HTTP 80 ? Does SPS server expose searching service as an XML WebService?
2) Does connector components for searching need to be installed on the same server in which is installed SPS?
I mean... I would have only one server in which I install SPS. So, in this case, will I be able to install connector into other MCMS machine, and querying the only one SPS server?
3) can I install connector in english, and use it against a SPS in italian? can I install SPS italian version on a Windows server 2003 english? Or the two products have to be in the same language?

| Hi Stefano,
1) the connector uses http to communicate to the Search Webservice of the
SPS server.
So yes: a web service is provided by SPS and consumed by the connector to
perform the search.
2) no the search components need to be installed on the CMS server which
does not need to be identical with the SPS server
3) I'm not completly sure but as far as I can remember this is not a
supported scenario.
