We have an MCMS 2002 site that works fine for the great
majority of people, however we have had reports from a
client with a secure network that they are getting
regular 'page not found' errors. After a bit of
investigation i've found that these tend to follow a
PostBack event. This is backed up by the fact I replaced
a LinkButton with an Href and it worked.

I have read various postings about how NAT / proxies can
affect Postback events on MCMS 2002. Can you give a bit
more detail about this problem?

Thanks,

Hi Bob,

this is most likely the following IE bug:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=821814

Cheers,
Stefan.

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for the advice.

However it's now apparent that even hyperlinks are
causing 'page not found' and [code=CANT_CONNECT] errors.

I'm fairly sure this must be a proxy problem - do you
think that a proxy is messing up authentication? Any
ideas of how to resolve the issue?

Many Thanks,

Bob

Hi Bob,

no idea - it depends on the proxy.
Be aware that nearly no proxy will path NTLM and kerberos authentication.

Cheers,
Stefan.
