What's the MCMS virtual directory for?

Hi all

What is the MCMS virtual directory/application for? The
path is \Program Files\Content Management
Server\Server\MCMS.

Is it required for read-only sites or only for read-write
sites?

Hi Adam,

this application is used by SiteManager to communicate with the server.

I did some experimenting. It seems if you specify your
site is read-only is removes this VD. If you specify that
it is read-write it puts it back.

Do read-only sites require this virtual directory?

No. Read-only sites cannot be accessed with SiteManager so this virtual
directory is not used.
You will also see that the content of the /NR directory will no longer have
the System and Shared directory.
