Error in expiring a posting

Hi,

I'm trying trying to expire a published posting by setting
it's expiry date = now and then approving it. I get this
error "Posting is not ready for approval. This action can
only be performed if this posting is ready for approval."
When I checked the state of posting ,
it's "WaitingForModeratorApproval". We don't have any
moderator in the work flow.
How this can be resolved ?
