Modifying MCMS rights with C#
|
|
| Jan-Willem 2005-01-27, 7:46 am |
| Hi All,
We are upgrading a MCMS2002 SP1a based site to a newer version and
therefore copy existing channels to a new channel with a prefix,
i.e.
www.sitename1.com to www.sitename1.com_version2
We use a tool built in C# to make a copy of the channels and do some
coversion things. The problem is that the rights assigned to channel
www.sitename1.com
are not copied to the channel www.sitename1.com_version2.
Is there any possibility to manage and/or assign rights in MCMS using
a programming language, so i can build a tool that copies rights from
channel1 to
channel 2. Preferably in C#, but if there are other options please let me
know.
Thanks in advance,
- JW

| Hi,
The API for maintaining rights is not publicly accessible.
You can only do this with Site manager.

| Hi JW,
the only supported way to achieve this is to do this using SiteManager.
Cheers,
Stefan.

| Thanks for your reply,
Since i'm forced to set the user rights for each individual channel with the
Site Manager :-)
is there a possibility to get an overview of all channels and subchannels
with their right groups
per channel? ... or should i check the settings for each seperate channel?
and manually copy
those settings.
There are quite a few :-(

| you can use the propogate menu option to set the rights at a top level
channel and all subchannels - which may help.

| Thanks,
Then I'll have to do it manually... using the propagate option :-)
