401.1 Error on Server.

| Hi,
I have Map Channel Names to Host Header Names turned set to true on on my
MCMS server. For ease of explanation I have a root channel named "intranet".
I can access http://intranet any computer other than the MCMS server the
authentication and header mapping works perfectly.
I can access http://localhost/intranet and http://servername/intranet on the
server fine.
When I access http://intranet on the server it prompts me for username and
password (ie. no intergrated authentication) then thows a 401.1 error. Any
ideas why this happens? Is authentication different when host channel mapping
is on?
I have intranet, localhost & servername in the intranet sites in IE.
"intranet" is in the DNS (I have also tried it in the hosts file with
127.0.0.1 & the machine IP)
The only things I can see different in the IIS logs is "cs-username" does
not get populated and "sc-win32-status" has a value of 2148074252 when I
access via http://intranet
I wouldn't be overly concerned becauase I can access the site from other
machines. But as this is my develpment MCMS server I also have SPS on the
same server (different host header)... SPS fails to index the MCMS site with
authentication errror as well.
Any assistance would be helpful.
Thanks. Craig.
