| Is there an easy way to add captions to the photo placeholder? If not, does
anyone know if there is plans in a future release? Might be a nice
enhancement.

Which photo placeholder control is this? Are you refering to the Single
Image Placeholder Control?

| Yes, we are using the Single Image Placeholder Control. Is there a better
choice?

to do what you are llooing for you need to override the
CreateAuthoringChildControls method of the original placeholder control and
add the caption here.
