Author webauthor js error
HW

HI Stefan

still fighting with the webauthor js error....

if I go to: ...http://localhost/channels/

then i get the (english) webauthor - and all works fine...;0)

if I go to: ...http://localhost/cms.web/ (our website code)

i get the error...

Maybe I misunderstand the hole IIS configuration thing..

I have the default website
underneath that I have a virtuel directory named Cms.Web that points to
the vendors code

at the same "level" as Cms.Web lies the CMS and NR with different
icons...

any help would be appriciated...

Please always included the whole thread in the reply.

Hi Stefan

of course..my bad...

the thread are from the 17-11-2005 at 10:03

it started like this...

Hi

Finally i got the site running - but the webauthor won't 'open' upon
click

I get a javascript error --

Line: 928
Char: 1
Error: object expected
Code: 0
URL: Http:// then a lot of mumbo jumbo ..ending with .. =
ModifiedLoggedIn

<A id="SwitchToPresentationUnpublishedAnchor" href="#"
onclick="CMS_preparePostbackUrl('/NR/exeres/FCBD4E79-8323-49E4-A0CD-AFAD2E6DB64E,frameless.htm?NRMODE=Unpublished&WBCMODE=PresentationUnpublished& wbc_purpose=Basic');__doPostBack('Defaul
tConsole1$Console1$PresentationPublished
ModeContainer1$SwitchToPresen
tationUnpublishedAction1','');return
false" target=_self>

I think its some kind of rights error - but can't see it...

I've created the following users:

Cms_administrator (administrator group)
CMS_user (in a guest subscribers group)

logged in as Administrator on the machine..

Any help would be appriciated....

Hi HW,

The path in IIS is not relevant to IIS. You always need to use the channel
path and not the template project path.
If I understand you correct cms.web is a virtual directory on the disk and
not a channel.

Cheers,
Stefan

Cheers,

huh...?

should I then put the vendors code in the folder: program files /microsoft
content mangement /server/IIS_nr then - or ?

Stefan [MSFT]

Hi,

no! the content needs to exist as postings in the database. Not on the file
system.
On the file system only the template files will reside - but these are
called implicitly and not in a URL you enter in a browser.

Cheers,
Stefan

Hi Stefan

Thanks for your reply

Maybe we misunderstand each other....so let me please clarify..

Situation:

We have recived a zip file of the vendors code (Our website and all the .cs
files and the vs solution file) our site works in a production enviroment)

I would like to install the same on a different win2003/IIS box as a test
server. So I installed the CMS 2002 with sp1 on the default website in IIS.

The zip file we recieved, consist of the following folders:

bin
configuration
console
Images
Pages
Scripts
Stylesheets
Templates
Usercontrols

and the Files:
Global.asax
web.config
global.asax.cs

1) I unzip the vendors code to the location: C:\cms.web
2) In the IIS I create a Virtual directory under the default website in the
IIS named Cms.Web pointing to the c:\cms.web folder
3) made a export package from our production enviroment and imported it to
the win2003 box

In the site manager I then have the folders:
channels
www.ourdomainname.com

and all the ressources,images etc.

if I navigate to http://localhost/channels in a browser the webauthor works
fine...
if I navigate to http://localhost/www.ourdomainname.com the site serves up
fine with all the images, postings etc. - but the webauthor gives the js
error.

can you see the error (besides me!..maybe I just should leave it to the
pro's....... ;0)...)

Hi,

ok now things are more clear!
You missed to create the "CMS" virtual directory inside your cms.web virtual
directory which needs to point to the IIS_CMS directory in the MCMS server
install location.
Please ensure that this virtual directory is not a web application.

Cheers,
Stefan
