Author Posting not visible when in viewing historical versions

Here is my scenario: I have two different types of postings on my site
(well, more, but only two that are important for this discussion). The
first posting sits in the root of my site, and is as "Search Results" page
that navigates to postings of the second type which are "Content" type
postings.

Most authors can only create and modify the "Content" type postings. There
is a special group of authors who can modify the "Search Results" posting.
Obviously, while in Unpublished mode, the regular authors can view the
"Search Results" posting, but only the special group has the edit icon
available. This works as expected.

All Subscribers can view both these postings.

The "Content" postings include a link back to the "Search Results" posting.
This link renders fine when viewed by subscribers in Published mode, and by
either type of author when in Unpublished mode.

The problem is when I try to view a historical version of a "Content"
posting as a regular author. The code that attempts to get link to the
"Search Results" fails to find the "Search Results" posting in the root
directory. From the PAPI's perspective in that context, it simply does not
exist! If I change context to the higher privileged group of authors, the
link to the "Search Results" posting renders just fine.

I do not understand this behavior. In the context of the regular authors,
the "Search Results" posting should exist - its just that it should not be
editable. What's up?

PS: I am using MCMS with SP1a

I have tested this problem also on a server with MCMS 2002 with SP2 and am
experiencing the same problem.

I have seen postings since this one with responses already, but no response
to this problem. Stephan, are you looking into it? Is this a known bug, or
a new bug? Any chance of a fix?

Hi PV,

I haven't seen you original post.
It does not show up in my newsreader.

Anyway: please open a support case to let us analyze this problem.

Cheers,
Stefan
