Author telerik free or not?
Peter Fastré

I read in this newsgroup's archive that Microsoft pays a license to
Telerik for MCMS customers to have the rad editor for free

I can't find anything on the Telerik site about this.
Is there a different version of the editor for MSCMS? Where can I find
installation documents? Or do I have to buy the rad editor on the
Telerik site for 349$?

Cheers

Peter

Hi Peter,

the Telerik Placeholder Control is free for MCMS users.
Microsoft is paying the license fee.

Cheers,
Stefan.

OK never mind I found it with google, apparently it's a hidden area of
the Telerik site.

hey I just looked at it and it looks great!

what's microsoft's plan with telerik? I'd prefer not jumping on board if
microsoft is going to switch vendors or something to the likes..
thanks!

There are no plans to change
- we think Telerik is a great solution to enable authors with rich editing
- we make it easy for CMS customers to have access to this technology.

The original question asked if Telerik was free or not.

The Editor will continue to be free and supported by Telerik

But -there is a Premium version of the CMS Editor that will be part of the
Telerik Controls Suite for CMS.
More info - such as the difference between the standard version and the
premium version - is documented here
