I am using Microsoft's documentation to configure my machines to use the connector for doing search on my cms site. My set-up is that I have 3 machines that house the cms, sharepoint 2003 (SPS), and sql server 2000 separately. I'm having difficulty following step 4 of the documentation which is create an MCMS application pool. My cms site is sitting on win2k machine while the sharepoint is on a win2003.

To create an application pool, which can only be done on an IIS 6.0 on the win2003 machine, I need to "right-click the virtual server you intend to use as an MCMS entry point, and then click Properties". This is the step where I would assign this virtual server to the new MCMS app pool I created. What is meant by "MCMS entry point" here? Is this the portal site I created in my sharepoint server? If this is my CMS site, how can I do this when my CMS site is on a different machine? I tried assigning the SPS portal site to the app pool, but I render the SPS site inaccessible. I tried not setting an MCMS app pool, but when I run the CMS search page I get a "you do not have sufficient search privileges".

Please help. I'm confused big time.

Pete
