Author VS.Net and viewing the template exporer

Suddenly I get the following error when I try to view the Template Explorer
in my project: "Could not open the MCMS Template Explorer. You may not have
rights to view Templates or a server connection could not be established.
Please make sure that you have rights to view Templates and open the project
again"

I am the administrator for the site, so I think I should have rights to view
all the templates and I have been able to view them for months now from my vs
project. The only recent change is that we moved the database to a new
server and I'm wondering if somehow my project can't make a connection to the
new server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Is your site working? If there is some permissions problem with the DB
server, you should see it manifest itself on the site. Is the new
server in the same domain as the older server? This definitely sounds
like a permissions problem and the new server is likely the cause.
Have you tried opening Site Manager and seeing if you can browse the
template galleries?

The site is working and I can also access the templates from vs logged into
the server and I can browse the templates in Site Manager.

Thanks for the article. There is another "clue" in the error message
indicating that "The windows credentials provided could not be validated".
It seems like it's related to trying to access the dev server solution from
my local desktop....however, I've been accessing the solution that way for
months and have always been able to view the Template Explorer (there are a
few things I can't do with the templates from my local machine, but I've
never not be able to view them).

Any more ideas?

Hi Vicki,

this might indicate that the domain controller cannot be contacted.
The credentials need to be valid on the local MCMS server machine which
hosts VS.NET.

Cheers,
Stefan
