Author Functionality of Copy Page Dialog

Dear CMS Experts
I wanted to implement functionality in CMS very similar to Copy Page
Diaglog Box.
The change is instead of Copying the Posting to a Channel, user can
navigate to the Channel Hierarchy and change the Channe's Display name.
So it will be sort of "Change Display Name Dialog Box"
Is the Microsoft Code available to extend OR Is there some code that I
can reuse
Thanks
Tarun

Hi Tarun,

the channel display name can be changed using the channel properties dialog.
This dialog will show up to all users with the appropriate rights - author
and editors do not have the right to do this.

What exaclty is the problem that you can't use this standard method but need
to use an extra dialog?

Just to answer your questioin: I'm not aware of a dialog that would work in
the way you are talking about.

Cheers,
Stefan

Thanks Stefan for responding
I learnt from one of your previous response to me, that I cannot use
Site Manager for entering Chinese characters. You mentioned I need to
use Web Authoring for that.
Now like usual practice, our left nav is created from the Channel
hierarchy. In the left nav, user can reach certain channels, and other
channels serve as the parent of the hierarchy.
And application template are built to not let user navigate these
channels.
Since user will be entering chinese characters and we want them to give
this freedom (because we cannot enter), we wanted to let them navigate
to certain channels (otherwise unreachable because of code)
In order to change whole lot of code for letting them change the
display name of these channels, I wanted "Copy Dialog" kind of popup
where users can select the channel and change the display name (add
some of my functionality)
Hope this info clarifies the situation
Thanks
Tarun

Hi Tarun,

makes things clearer!
Actually as I indicated such a dialog does not yet exist.
You need to implement it on your own.

Cheers,
Stefan

Thanks for confirming.
Now being on Greedy side, is there a way I can reuse / extend the "Copy
Dialog box" to achieve the behavior
1. Tree view like dialog box
2. with the capability of changing the display name of selected channel

Regards
Tarun

Hi Tarun,

no this dialog canot be reused.
The copy action is done by the dialog itself. So this is not a separate
dialog that can be reused for other purposes.

Cheers,
Stefan
