All alterations on our site is made on a staging machine and then a service
uses script and the publishing api to check for alterations every minute. If
it finds any changes it is exported and imported to the production machine.

If you now "accidently" delete a used resource the publishing api thinks
that all postings referencing the deleted resource has changed and exports
it. But it doesn´t mark the postings as exported. So next minute the routine
exports and import the same stuff to the production machine

Well i got help from microsoft to remedy this problem by a script tha
restores any deleted resources.
My problem now is that the production machine has logged a lot of revisions
of these postings that got republished every minute.

If i try to use the "clear revision history" in site manager, site manager
stops responding after a while and the cpu works at 100% which makes the
whole site non responsive. If i only try to clear our a half hour at a time
it works, but the site performance degrades to much.

Is the a backdoor function to clear out revisions?

Regards

Hi John,

if you never used clear revision history before this can take a while.
We have a hotfix to reduce this timeframe: 899027

Cheers,
Stefan
