how to delay publishing of page while keeping live version

| Hi, a quick web authoring question: how to set time for publishing new
version of a page? Setting a start date and time from page properties
appears to make the page (posting) disappear from presentation, but we'd
want to current version of page to stay up until the clock strikes. Make a
new page with same name starting at that future date and set the old to
stop?

| Hi Arto,
you placed your finger on a important design limiation of MCMS.
That is not possible.
What you could do instead:
1) create a new page and set it's start date to the desired time while
setting the expiration date of the other page to the same time.
Caveat: will not work if you have links to the page
2) create the update on your authoring machine and prepare a site deployment
import of the new content and schedule it to the time the content should go
live.

I just wanted to point out a possible third solution: thru authoring
connector, go thru the steps required to "Replace any page" and set the start
date for the replace to occur. This will ensure that the current page will
get replaced by the updated content on the date/time required while the
current content is displayed till then.

sorry but there is no such option in Authoring Connector.
The start and end publishing date is just the start publishing date and end
publishing date property of the posting and not related to the time when the
update will go live.
With other words: the problem described by Arto is not avoided using this
method.

| One more work-around solution which we have used which overcomes the
limitations on Stefan's suggestion (#1). If the target page(s) are in a
channel by themselves or are sorted #1 and #2, set your hyperlink to the
channel rather than the page and ensure the "Default Page" is set to load the
first page rather than a specific page.
