Updates made to CMS 2001 Templates not saved
|

| Hi,
We are running CMS 2001, and we have noticed in the past few days, that
any updates that we make to our CMS 2001 "Page" templates are NOT being
saved. The only way we are able to update the templates is by doing the
following:
1. Copy all the code from an existing template (say, Template A).
2. Create a brand new "Page" template.
3. Paste the code that we copied in Step 1 in to the new "Page"
template. Add new updates to the template code.
4. Save the new "Page" template (say, Template B).
5. Delete Postings that were based on Template A.
6. Edit the Page that was based on Template A.
7. Add a new View, based on Template B, to the Page.
8. Delete the View, based on Template A, from the Page.
9. Save the Page.
10. Create a new Posting based on the updated Page.
This workaround as you can see is very cumbersome, given that we need
to update template content quite frequently. We have been running our
CMS 2001 site since 2003 and have not had this issue before.
I have tried the following in an attempt to resolve the template update
issue. But none of the following have resolved the issue.
1. Cleared the Memory Cache in the "Server Configuration Application."
2. Stopped the "AESecurityService" first, then deleted the contents of
the "NR\RdOnlyRes" folder, started the "AESecurityService." I did this
after I read some postings in this forum. I got the impression that by
clearing the contents of the "Disk Cache" (i.e. NR\RdOnlyRes), forces
the CMS system to retrieve the content from the SQL Server database.
But after I did this, I was unable to "Edit Template HTML". The error
message says that it is looking for a file in the "NR\RdOnlyRes"
folder, when in fact the CMS system should have retrieved the template
code from the database. Is this how it is supposed to work or did we
not configure something properly in our CMS 2001 system?
Is there a better solution for the above issue? Perhaps a hotfix that I
am not aware of?
Stefan Gossner, Oracle of MCMS - Please help us.
Thanks a lot.
Best regards,
Kiran

| Hi Kiran,
that is not a known issue.
Please open a support case to get this problem analyzed.
Cheers,
