Hi, i have two questions regarding the MCMS resource gallery:

1.- Is it possible to restrict the file types that can be uploaded to
the gallery? for example, i only want users to upload pdf files.

2.- If i have an HTML placeholder, and a user uploads a local image it
gets stored in the database, if after a while i edit the content of
that placeholder and delete the image. does it get deleted from the
database as well? i ask because it will be garbage solwing down my
database performance.

Thank you very much!!!

Eli

Hi Eli_b,

In regards to your questions:

1. Refer to Stefan's posting at
http://blogs.technet.com/stefan_gos.../07/41865.aspx, this
describes how to restrict the upload of certain file type (*.BMP) using local
and resource gallery. I am sure you could reverse to only access a certain
file type (*.PDF). This method will not work for drag&drop in SiteManager -
but
SiteManager should be restricted to people who know what they do anyway.

2. When a local image is inserted into a placeholder it is stored as an
instance within the MCMS database, when the image is removed from the
placeholder it is removed from the database. Please note, if the image is
being used in more than one area of the site or even within the posting then
using the resource gallery would be more efficient and also save of database
storage.

Hi Eli,

just to add for question #2: the image is not automatically removed from the
database after the reference has been deleted from the placeholder.
This is done when the background processing job runs the next time.

Cheers,
Stefan

Thank you Stefan for your prompt response.

I am still unclear how I could make use of the other drive with plenty of
free space.

I did go to SCA, and under Cache tab, "Local Disk Cach Location:" I have:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Content Management Server\Server\"

Under "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Content Management Server\Server\" I have
these folders:
bin, config, exeres, IIS_CMS, IIS_NR, IIS_NR_RO, IIS_NR_RO_ASP, MCMS,
NRConfig, rdonlyres, Setup Files and Temp.

Should I be able to refernce Cache Location on my new drive?
Eg. D:\Somefolder

I just need to find a way to make use of my new hard-drive since C: drive is
full. I cannot upload any documents, images...

Hi,

exactly that is required: change it to D:\somefolder and it will move the
"rdonlyres" folder to this directory - which is the disk cache.

Cheers,
Stefan

Thank you Stefan!

It worked great!

I just created a new folder under D: drive, referenced it in Cache SCA,
increased Maximum Disk Cach Size to 4096 and Maximum Node in Memory Cach to
4000 and everything works perfect!

Thanks a lot!
