Hi,

We are working with visual studio 2005 but we can't make the template
explorer show up in our mcms projects as usual.

What should we do?

Thank you,

Doron.

Hi Doron,

this is a known bug in MCMS 2002 SP2.
See here for details and hotfix information:

For a list of all known SP2 issues see here:

Hi Stefan,

I am already working under the 'US english' regional settings.

Can there be another cause/solution to the problem?

Hi Doron,

yes: you need to ensure that you create your template with Location "http"

Cheers,
Stefan

Hey Doron and Stefan,
I downloade the fix referenced in the 914195 article and still couldn't get
the MCMS Template explorer to appear either. After much trial and error I
think it was related to multiple IIS sites using host headers. Once we turned
of host headers and ensureed only one site was active on port 80 the MCMS
Template Explorer appeared. Pretty wierd.

Hi Andy,

actually only the default website running on port 80 is officially supported
by the developer tools.
The reason is that the recommended developer platform for MCMS is Windows
XP - and here you will only be able to use the default website.

You can only enable VS.NET to use a different website if

1) there is no other website using the same port - including stopped sites
2) the website can be accessed with the name "localhost" (no other name
possible)
3) you adjust the instanceid of the developertools.xml with the instance ID
of the new website

So you also cannot work against more than one website!

Cheers,
Stefan
