Upgrading to MCMS SP2
|
|
|
| I know this has been answered many times - but still I am not sure about a
few things.
We have .NET 1.1 app currently running on MCMS SP1a.
We are trying to migrate to MCMS SP2 but still will be running the .NET 1.1
app, as there are too many changes to make it .NET 2.0 and it will not be
done any time soon.
My questions are:
1. Once MCMS has been upgraded to SP2, Do I have to recompile the
application with the new DLLs (ie. with the sp2 MCMS dlls, as the current app
references MCMS sp1a DLLs) ? Will I have any issues with keeping the
existing code(which .net 1.1) in the code Templates ?
2. Does the application need to be running on .NET 2.0 Framework (in IIS) or
can it still run on 1.1 ( ok I cannot run it on 2.0 as the app is compiled
for 1.1). My question is, do I have to do any IIS related changes.
Thank you very much, any input is greatly appreciated.

| Hi Bob,
Upgrading to SP2 does not enforce you to use .NET F/W 2.0 or VS2005 or SQL
2005, it only provides the opportunity to do so in the furture. Service Pack
2 also introduces compatibility with x64-compatible versions of Windows in
32-bit emulation mode and also includes 59 fixes in the base product, see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894691 for details.

| Hi Bob,
William is correct. In addition to answer your first question: no recompile
required.
Cheers,
Stefan
