MCMS Template Explorer Here then Gone

| I spent the better part of yesterday trying to get the CMS Template
Explorer in Visual Studio 2005 to 1) show up, then 2) work. We have a
solution that was migrated from .net 1.1 to 2.0. After lots of
investigation, and some trial-and-error, I finally found that if I
opened my project as a web site, I could enable it as an MCMS project,
and the template explorer would work. Then I closed the project, and
reopened my web application solution - the template explorer continued
to work.
Today, nothing I do will open the template explorer. When I open the
website project, the "Enable as MCMS Project" option on the Website
menu is greyed out, but the template explorer is not connected.
Reopening the web app solution shows the same thing - template
explorer with "No CMS-enabled projects open" in the window.
What gives? I need that template explorer to work EVERY TIME, not just
when it feels like it. And more importantly, I need it today or I'm
going to miss a deadline. Can anyone offer any suggestions??????

| I found a temporary solution:
I removed the website project from my solution, and deleted all traces
of it in the file system, including the vwd.webinfo file. I then added
a new MCMS web application website and built the solution. I then
closed it, opened the project as a website, enabled it as an MCMS
project, and my template explorer worked again. I just don't want to
have to go through all that every day.

| Ok it happened again while I was working. I found a quicker fix, but
it's still not ideal.
Close the solution. Delete the vwd.webinfo file from the project
folder. Open the website project. Enable it as CMS project. Close the
website project. Open the solution and work away with the Template
Explorer.
Still looking for a way to KEEP template explorer available. I'm
thinking that maybe running in debug mode is what breaks it, since we
still build the solution (3 projects + the newly added CMS web
application website) and not just the website.

| Hi,
please ensure that the MCMS template enabled project is the first in the
solution.
Cheers,
