Hi,

I am getting the error, "The user does not have sufficient rights"
when accessing MCMS Site Manager with the following details:
Error: 4004
Description: The user does not have sufficient rights
Severity: 5
Source: Source: (ISOK File aestub.cpp, Line 502) d:\src.
2002sp2\cms2002sp2\private\cms\server\ae
serverobject\aesession.cpp 471

Debug info:
Extra info:
Client Source: Login::ctlLogin_Click
Recommended Action:

I was able to access Site Manager this past Friday, and so it appears
to have been caused by unattended patches that were applied over the
weekend.

I do not know of any other security or configuration changes that were
made to the server. I have local admin rights on the machine and
within CMS.

Uninstalling the patches did not resolve the issue.

Here is a list of the patches that were applied:

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - February 2007 (KB890830)
Windows Server 2003 Hotfix KB928255
Windows Server 2003 Hotfix KB926436
Windows Server 2003 Hotfix KB924667
Windows Server 2003 Hotfix KB928843
Windows Server 2003 Hotfix KB928090-IE7
Windows Server 2003 Hotfix KB918118
Windows Server 2003 Hotfix KB931836

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Hi Mark,

are all users affected or only one?
Please try to add a different user as MCMS administrator if you don't have
more than one by running the DCA and check if this user can access.

Cheers,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. The new MCMS
administrator does have access.

It turns out that the administrator group that we were using for CMS
must have been deleted from active directory over the weekend, which
caused the problem.

Thanks!
