Author Changing server names

We have a previous client for which we implemented MSCMS 2002 SP1a. They
have been recently acquired and the parent company is going to absorb all
their servers including changing the server names. If they change the name
of the authoring server say from cmsauth to something else, will there be any
ramifications to the CMS implementation? Anything they should be prepared
for?

TIA!

Hi Tia,
it will affect some things like
1 - if you are declareing local user on the machine to log into cms this
will need to be reconfigured
2 - also you will need to reconfigure all the databases for cms
3 - in SCA you will need to give the guest user permission on the local
machine
4 - all configurations in sitemanager users will need to be reconfigured.

Regards,

Hi Hokie,

also check the MCMS system account. If it is a local machine account you
need to adjust it.
Beside that: check you code if it contains any references to the existing
machine name.

Cheers,
Stefan
