Hi all,

We have the following env: cms2002 (no service pack) on win2000 and
connecting to sqlserver2000 and we need to migrate to cms2002 with SP2 on
win2k3 server and connecting to sqlserver2005, what would be the best
approach? How can we migrate the site and its content over to this new env?

Is cms2002 with no service pack still available or SP1 is bundled in
already? If cms2002 with no service pack is still available, do I have to
install cms2002 with no service pack on win2k3 first, then migrate the site
from win2000, then upgrade cms2002 to sp2 on the new env, then at the end
migrate the dbs to sqlserver2005?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tony

Hi Tony,

the best approach would be:

- install a new MCMS system on Windows Server 2003.
- install SP1a for MCMS
- install SP2 for MCMS
- copy your template project to the new server
- backup your database and restore on SQL 2005
- run the DCA on your SP2 install and connect to your SQL 2005 database
- install the following hotfix which is required to fix a known issue:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=913401

Cheers,
Stefan
