Is it possible to Restrict the "delete" rights for some/all of the CMS authors

Hi,

no this is not possible.
But what you can do is to remove the delete link from the console based on
your own logic.
E.g. have a separate database that holds information about which users
should be allowed to delete items and only render the delete links for those
users.
