Fill dropdown in gridview + asp.net 2005

I have a gridview with dropdownlist in it. Data in dropdownlist is
fixed.

I dont want dropdownlist get filled for all the records in gridview
for performance issue.

Is there any way so that dropdownlist in gridview get filled only once
and not for all records????
