Save Placeholder Failed error
|
|
|
| Hi,
Users are reporting a Save Placeholder Failed error message. The message
says that the user doesn't have rights to edit the requested item and that
the CmsAuthorizationModule has been removed from web.config.
My good friend Google tells me that this error is generally related to one
of two things:
1. There is a resource on the page that has been removed from the resource
gallery (I've checked this and all resources exist)
2. The user trying to edit the posting doesn't have sufficient rights to the
resource gallery (I've also checked this and the user looks to be OK to me)
I've also checked the the CmsAuthorizationModule is in my web.config and it
is present. This error doesn't seem to be relate to just one posting. Several
authors have reported the same issue. As far as I know there haven't been any
changes to rights in channels or resource galleries. An adminstrator doesn't
have this issue. THis issue is occurring for postings and channels that have
been there for a while.
I've run the CmsDependencies utility that Stefan Gossner created and it
reports that none of the resources are linked to a posting. Ie. every
resource has 0 postings. I know this is definitely not right (this utility
has previously reported resource dependencies correctly).
I need some help with this as the authors need to be able to post but they
can't. Does anyone have any ideas?
We're running MCMS 2002 with SP2 on Win2003 server.
Thanks,
Sean

| Can you please check all the resources on that postings/templates.
Definitely the resource is expired or not available.
Cheers,

| Thanks for you response Nachi,
The resource exists - I can see it in Site Manager and Resource Manager. The
resource is also displayed when a subscriber opens it from the posting. It is
just when someone tries to edit the posting that the error is displayed.
How do I tell if a resource has expired?

| Hi Sean,
most likely your user doesn't have editor permissions on the template
gallery the page belongs to.
Or he doesn't have editor permissions on the resource gallery where the
items are in.
Subscriber rights are not sufficient on these galleries to save an item.
Cheers,
Stefan
