New connected posting showing content from an existing posting

| Damn I hate this site. Every time I try to post a new question, it
tells me I'm not logged in (which I definitely am) and I lose my
question. I have to retype it out all the time. VERY annoying.
Here's my problem:
MCMS 2002 SP2
SQL Server 2000
We have many situations where we use template A in channel A, a
connected template B in channel B, and a connected template C in
channel C. In one very specific instance, We are able to create a
posting in channels A and B using the proper templates, and everything
is good. However, when we try creating the posting in channel C using
its template, it comes up with placeholder content from a completely
different posting.
I thought maybe MCMS generated a duplicate guid, despite the odds of
that happening being almost zero. So we deleted the posting in A and B
and started over. The same thing happened. This has never happened
with any other postings, including ones that use the exact same
templates.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, they would be greatly
appreciated. The product we are creating these postings for is
supposed to launch tomorrow. So resolving this quickly is extremely
important.
Thanks,
Jason

| Hi Jason,
are you creating a connected posting or a normal posting?
Connected postings always show the content of the postings they are
connected with.
Cheers,
Stefan

| Hi Stefan,
It's a connected posting, but the content is NOT from the "original"
posting. The content is coming from a completely different posting.
That's why this is so confusing. I'll simplify and explain:
Posting A1 in Channel A uses Template A.
Posting B1 in Channel B uses Template B. Template B is a connected
template to Template A.
Posting C1 in Channel C uses Template C. Template C is a connected
template to both Templates A and B.
Postings A1, B1 and C1 are fine.
Posting A2 in Channel A uses Template A.
Posting B2 in Channel B uses Template B. This posting is correctly
showing the content from Posting A2.
Posting C2 in Channel C uses Template C. This posting is showing
content from Posting C1, as opposed to the content from A2 like it's
supposed to show.
Now do you see why I'm confused? The templates and postings are
working correctly everywhere except this one very specific example.
Deleting all the #2 postings and recreating them from scratch didn't
resolve the issue. I'm thinking there is some leftover placeholder
content, or some other object that is forcing the newly created A2
posting to grab that old, incorrect content.
Have you ever seen this before?

| Hi Jason,
if you use the "Go to connected posting" option in the console to switch to
the connected posting.
Which posting do you see now?
Posting C1 or A2?
Cheers,
Stefan

| Hi Stefan,
The issue seems to have resolved itself. We deleted all connected
postings again and started over. It's possible that the first time we
deleted them one of them was in Saved mode. And for whatever reason,
it didn't get deleted.
To answer your question, the connected posting in channel C seemed to
be a combination of C2 and C1. The properties matched the x2 postings,
and some of the content was from the x2 placeholders, but some of the
content was from the x1 placeholders. I haven't been able to recreate
the scenario since (partly due to time constraints with other
projects). So for now I'm chalking it up as an anomaly and leaving it
at that. If it comes up again, however, then I'll dig deeper into the
issue. As I said in my first message, this product page had to be
launched the next day. Fortunately we did get it launched. But I would
hate for this issue to happen again in the future.
