pipelineperf.dll error during install

| Hi everyone!
I am trying to install Commerce Server on a box with the
following configuration and receiving the error related
to "pipelineperf.dll" listed later in this post. First,
here is the machine configuration:
(note this machine is configured according to the MSIB
2.1 specs for a DW box - it is just also picking up the
BizDesk role)
-Win2K Advanced Server SP4 Slipstream install
-IE 6 SP1
-MSXML 4 SP2
-SQL 2K EE
-SQL 2K EE OLAP
-SQL 2K EE SP3a
-SQL 2K EE OLAP SP3a
-MDAC 2.7 Refresh Install
-IIS Installed onto box (from slipstreamed install)
-OWC10
-.NET Framework 1.0
-.NET Framework 1.0 SP2
---> Attempt CS2K2 EE Install <---
On the install of CS2K2 EE, I receive the following error
during the "Removing Backup Files" stage of the installer:
Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files\Microsoft Commerce
Server 2002\pipelineperf.dll failed to register.
HRESULT . Contact your support personnel.
Now, is there anyway to generate either via flipping
registry params and/or command line params to the
installer?
(A) a more useful error message ?
[color=blue]
(B) an error log of what/why this is happening?
I have searched the internet for "pipelineperf.dll" which
should be involved in any document related to this and
found 0 (zero) on MS's site and only 3-4 on Google. I
have tried everything suggested in the documents
available on http://www.mscsug.com to no avail.
Has anyone seen this before and if so, how did you fix it
short of nuking the whole box and reinstalling it?
THANKS!

| Hi John,
I found an internal KB for CS2000 (not sure why it's not public) that
indicated the following:
SYMPTOMS
========
On setup, the following error dialog is shown:
Error 1904: Module: <path>\pipelineperf.dll failed to register.
HRESULT: -2147024889. Contact your support personnel.
CAUSE
=====
This error occurs if the component already had been installed previously.
RESOLUTION
==========
This problem only occurs on repair/reinstall. The error can be safely
ignored. You should make sure that you install Commerce Server 2000 to the
same directory as before.
I agree that if your pipeline perfmond counters show up in the perfmon
tool, then you can safely ignore the errors (or if you don't care about
these counters you can ignore).
Another option is to try running regsvr32 -u pipelineperf.dll and the
regsvr32 pipelineperf.dll. Sometime unregistering and then registering
fixes the problem.
Hope that solves it for you.
