Hi,

I tried to unpackage Retail2002 site into an environment with two
machine, one as web server (CS2002) and another as db server (SQL
2000). I faced no problem to unpackage the pup file as well as
accessing and configuring setting using BizDesk application.

However, when I tried to launch the retail2002 site, I get the
following error:

Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted
SQL
Server connection.

I have problem doing the same if I have everything setup in one
machine, i.e both web server (CS) and db in one machine.

Any help?

TIA,
Ken Teong

Hello, Ken,

from the error message, it looks like the IIS process identity whcih your retail2002 site is running under does not have permission to connect to SQL server. The runtime site (retail2002) allowes the anonymous
access, so you need to check the IIS setting of that web site., go to start menu --> run --> input "inetmgr" --> open "default web site", right click retail2002 node and open the properties page.

Now it depends on what version of IIS you are using. If you are using IIS5, go to "Directory Security" tab, click "Edit" and then edit the "account used for anonynous access". If you are using IIS6, get the application
pool name from web site's properties page and open the properties page of that application pool and configure the application pool identity.

The identity you configure should have access to commerce databases. refer to "Securing your site" --> "Securing your databases" in commerce server 2002 documentation for best practice of secure
deployment. If your case (separate machine for web server and db server), you probably want to use a domain account as IIS process identity.

The reason your bizdesk works is because bizdesk web site disallows the anonymous access so logoned user is probably the domain account, who is probably already having access to commerce databases.

HTH,
