Author Site Server 3.0 Search from ASP.Net

Not sure the best place to post this question but perhaps someone can help...

I'm using Site Server 3.0 Search to crawl my website and create a search catalog for my website. I'm then using ASP/VBScript in a "search engine" page to access this catalog and display search results. The correct way to instantiate a query object in AS
P would be something like:

set Q = Server.CreateObject("MSSearch.Query")

What is the best way to access Site Server 3.0 catalogs from ASP.Net and C#? I have looked into a lot of documentation about COM and .Net interop but I'm not really sure where to start.

Confusing the issue a bit is that Site Server seems to use some parts of Indexing Service, e.g. MSSearch seems to be an Indexing Service component rather than a Site Server component.

Can anyone offer some insight here? Maybe point me to a URL that will spell all of this out for me in my particular context?

Thanks.

Thank you for using Microsoft Newsgroups.

Please review Q314055 INFO: Site Server 3.0 and Site Server 3.0 Commerce
Edition .NET Support http://kb/article.asp?id=Q314055.

Site Server Search doesn't use Index. Site Server Knowledge Manager uses
Index. A Site Server Search Catalog built from a web site crawl is very
similar to the catalog created using Index. You can probably switch to
Index with minor effort. Think of Site Server Search as an enhanced Index
Server since it allows you to index more than just web sites.

To understand the Site Server Search vs Index Server, review this
whitepaper,
http://www.microsoft.com/siteserver...rchCatalog.htm. It
is very good in explaining how "Search doesn't use Index Server itself,
only its features."

Create an Index Catalog and compare the search results to your current Site
Server catalog search results to test if it meets your needs.
