Author Site Packager problem

This the exact error message that we get.

Commerce Server is not installed on . If you want to use
this computer, you must
install Commerce Server on it before continuing.

It seems strange that you can't package a site that is
installed to the root, considering most sites would be
that way, rather than having a path off the default site.

Any help?

I had the same problem. Microsoft has a fix for this problem and it is discussed here:
