I installed the updated Commerce 2002 Retail site. Then I installed FP1. I
am working on the post installation tasks. When I run the example command
which corresponds exactly to the name of my site, I get this:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Commerce Server
2002\FP1>CatalogMigrationTool.exe -S "Retail" -M
The operation specified is not valid.

Usage: CatalogMigrationTool.exe [-S sitename | -E connection string] [-M]
[-R] [-P authorizationPolicyPath -
U [-C culturename]] [-N xmlfilePath]
-S Specifies the sitename.
-E Specifies the connection string to the catalog database.
-M Migrate the catalog database to Commerce Server 2002 Feature
Pack.
-R Reverse migrate the catalog database to Commerce Server 2002
SP2.
-P The path of the authorization policy to update.
-U Update the authorization policy specified by -P.
-C The culture for localized descriptions in the authorization
policy.
-N Migrate product displaynames and variant identifiers for
catalogs.

Directly from the help topics:

To migrate the schema using the -S or the -E option:

Note You cannot specify both the -S and -E options.

CatalogMigrationTool.exe -S "Retail" -M

What is going wrong?

FYI, use / instead of - , that fixes this.
