Author login failed for retail solution site

Hello,

I am new to MS Commerce (and Microsoft stuff in general). I am trying to set
up the retail solution site. I am using Commerce Server 2002 and SQL Server
2000 Desktop Engine, both running on the local machine. The Business Desk
works, but when I go to http://localhost/retail to see the site I get the
following message:

Error Type:
Microsoft Commerce Configuration (0x80040E4D)
Login failed for user 'SYR-MBOEDICKER\IUSR_SYR-MBOEDICKER'.
SiteConfig:Initialize
/retail2/include/global_siteconfig_lib.asp, line 195

I am not sure what it can't log in to, but I am guessing it's the database.
Maybe the user that IIS runs as (IUSR_SYR-MBOEDICKER) does not have
sufficient access to the database?

I tried using OSQL to grant IUSR_SYR-MBOEDICKER access to the database, but
that didn't help.

Any suggestions of things I should verify?

Thanks.
Scott

Expand the 'Logins' folder within the SQL enterprise manager and check
whether the account you're running IIS under is in there. If it isn't, whack
it in there and give it the appropriate table access and you should be
laughing.

Cheers

You should also look at the Commerce Deployment guide which has
instructions to set your Windows accounts
